The harbour is owned and maintained by the Elie Harbour Trust.
Elie harbour dries to a sandy bottom and it is most suited to dinghies, bilge keel or centreboard yachts, up to about 30 feet long. However, the two visitor’s berths are ideal for a mid-season scrub for slightly larger yachts. Fresh water is provided at the visitor’s berths. Deep-water moorings are also available and larger craft should take the southerly mooring buoy.
Approaching the harbour is relatively simple, leaving the red Thill Rock buoy to port. Avoid coming in too close to the pier-end since it can be quite rough in a swell.
When inside the harbour, stay close to the wall to avoid mooring lines. And beware of swimmers and windsurfers who come in close to the moored yachts.

The harbour was donated to the community in 1955 by Sir Michael George Nairn, Bt. of Elie Estates and today it is maintained by the Elie Harbour Trust. The harbour offers:

Safe bathing on a Blue Flag beach
-

-

This last charge was proposed as part of an attempt to identify abandoned craft which are blocking access to the SW corner of the Blue Flag beach. Any craft not registered with EHT by the end of the 2008 Season would be removed to an area behind the EESC shed and subsequently disposed of the following season, if not claimed by the owner, having been considered constructively abandoned on EHT property.
